Hip pain

Hip pain can significantly limit your daily life — from walking and climbing stairs to sleeping comfortably. Whether it's osteoarthritis, bursitis, or groin pain — at Fysio Willemspark in Amsterdam we make an accurate diagnosis and work specifically towards your recovery.

Do you recognize this?

  • Pain in the groin or side of the hip

  • Stiffness when walking, especially after prolonged sitting

  • Nighttime hip pain that keeps you awake

  • A clicking or locking sensation in the hip

  • Pain when climbing stairs or standing up from a chair

  • Limited rotation or inability to cross your legs

Possible causes

Hip complaints can arise from wear, overuse, or sports injuries. Good diagnostics is essential for targeted treatment.

  • Hip osteoarthritis (coxarthrosis)

Wear of the cartilage in the hip joint is a common cause of hip pain, especially at older ages. It causes stiffness, pain during movement, and gradually decreasing mobility.

  • Trochanteric bursitis

Inflammation of the bursa on the outside of the hip. This causes pain when lying on the affected side, walking, and climbing stairs. Common in runners and women.

  • Labral tear

The labrum is a cartilage ring that deepens the hip socket. A tear in the labrum can cause pain, clicking, and a locking sensation in the hip, especially during rotational movements.

  • Groin pain (adductors)

Overuse or strain of the adductors (inside of the thigh) is a common sports injury. It causes groin pain that worsens with sprinting, kicking, and direction changes.

  • Snapping hip syndrome

A tendon that slides over a bony protrusion causing an audible or palpable 'click' sound. Usually harmless but can cause irritation and pain with repeated movement.

  • SI joint problems

The sacroiliac joint can radiate pain to the hip and buttock. Dysfunction of this joint is often confused with true hip pain and frequently occurs after pregnancy.

Our approach

  1. 1

    Testing

Through various tests, we map out the reason you are experiencing hip complaints. Often there is more than one cause.

  2. 2

    Solving

Based on the test results, we identify where the solution lies. By treating your body, you immediately feel an improvement in your hip.

  3. 3

    Follow-up

By performing the same tests again, you immediately experience that walking and moving is smoother and pain-free again.
