Neck pain and headaches

Neck pain and headaches are among the most common complaints in the Netherlands. Whether it's from prolonged screen work, a poor sleeping position, or stress — it limits your daily functioning. At Fysio Willemspark in Amsterdam, we address the cause, not just the symptom.

Do you recognize this?

  • Stiff neck, especially in the morning or after prolonged sitting

  • Headache that radiates up from the neck

  • Dizziness with certain head movements

  • Tingling or numbness in your arms

  • Limited range of motion of your head and neck

  • Concentration problems due to persistent pain

Possible causes

Neck and headache complaints can have various causes. A good diagnosis is essential for effective treatment.

  • Poor posture from screen work

Working at a computer or laptop for extended periods leads to a forward-leaning posture. The neck muscles become overloaded, causing tension and pain.

  • Whiplash

After a car accident or other trauma, whiplash can occur. The cervical vertebrae and surrounding tissues are damaged, which can cause long-lasting complaints.

  • Muscle tension from stress

Chronic stress causes you to unconsciously tense your neck and shoulder muscles. This leads to hardening, trigger points, and radiating headaches.

  • Cervical herniated disc

A herniated disc in the neck occurs when an intervertebral disc bulges and puts pressure on a nerve. This can cause pain, tingling, and loss of strength in the arm.

  • Cervical osteoarthritis

Wear of the joints in the cervical spine is more common at older ages. It causes stiffness, pain, and sometimes a grinding sensation during movement.

Our approach

  1. 1

    Testing

Through various tests, we map out the reason you are experiencing neck or headache complaints. Often there is more than one cause.

  2. 2

    Solving

Based on the test results, we identify where the solution lies. By treating your body, you immediately feel an improvement in your complaints.

  3. 3

    Follow-up

By performing the same tests again, you immediately experience that you have more range of motion. Often complaints are significantly reduced within a single treatment.
